For small cameras I pull the tape off and quickly cover the hole with my finger
then I use my finger as the shutter, the tape is just for transportation. I
have also used those tape magnets as the quick release mount. Use the ones with
a self adhesive side. Stick this to the tin. Now use a T nut screwed into your
tripod with the flat side facing up. Your magnet strip on the tin will stick to
the T nut. If you pre visualize your shot with the tin in place you can then
remove it, replace the tape with your finger, place it back and carefully let
go. I grab the camera again with my finger over the hole to stop the
exposure..
