I suppose that this is what photography is all about.

And this has led the camera manufacturers to develop more and more
sophisticated equipment to deal with the fact that most users have no
understanding or control over what they're doing! But, hey, that didn't change
the situation all that much. If you don't have the basic creative elements of
the picture, no amount of "control" or "understanding" will give you a good
picture.

The nice thing about pinhole, at least in my own case, is that it has forced me
back to basics. I have developed a feel for my camera, I experiment a lot with
reading the light with my own eyes, as opposed to reading it on a light meter,
and I try to determine the exposure times accordingly. Of course, I still have
a long way to go before I have as good a control as I'd like to have over the
various parameters. But I feel I understand more about my own creativity in
the process. And above all, I feel a bit like the pilot in one of these
Ultra-Lights: directly in contact with the basics of what I'm doing...
