Try this as a substitute, it works exactly the same way:
Take an empty gallon of paint and drill a pinhole at the bottom of the can.
You will have to figure out the size of the opening but try something like
0.5mm (0.2 in). Then fit a sheet of paper along the walls of the can. Put
the lid back on the can and go out to expose your print. You have an
anamorphic print!
(If this is too complex to do for wahatever reason, then contact Jim Kosinsky
at Stalight camera (from this list). He sells a full kit with the gallon can
pre-drilled with two pinholes: one on the walls of the can and one on the
bottom and it comes with a magnetic shutter and a fully explanatory notice on
pinholing and prosessing... Neat!)
The principle of the camera that you at Pinhole Resource is exactly the
same. It is constructed so that you can feed a 120 rollfilm in it (in the
case of the paint gallon, it would be like if the film was travelling
alongside the walls of the can). There is a shutter and winding mechanism.
Very nice! Wish I could afford buying one...
As an alternative, you could use a PCV tube and fit a pinhole at both ends of
the tube with a sheet of paper or film inside. You expose from one end of the
tube, then from the other and you have the same kind of images as Alex Gilham
shows...
Cheers,
Guy
