I had a student who made a pinhole camera from an old purse. The frayed
fabric from the inside became part of the image. The weren't large, but they
were gorgeous.

Eric Renner made a camera from something that looked like a suitcase...or it
used a suitcase handle. It accomodated 16" x 20" enlarging paper.

Two gentlemen, Dominique Stroobant and Terrance Dinnan in Charlott, Vermont,
made a piece called "Pinhole Earth Camera" 1980. It consisted of 82 silver
gelatin prints. They dug a hole in the earth. It was a recessed dome. When it
was dark, they covered the reverse dome with 82 numbered sheets of 8" x 10"
enlarging paper. Then they covered that with light tight black plastic with a
pinhole in the center. When it was light, they removed the tape covering the
hole, made and exposure, covered it, and when dark again, they removed the
plastic and collected the many sheets of enlarging paper. Once developed,
they assembled them, as they had been marked (numbered) in their original
placement. It ended up as a huge round floor piece...the image was trees as
seen from below. THAT ONE WAS LARGE, beautiful and original. However, the
camera was not transportable. Hahaha!
ahhhhh, pinhole! Wonderful!
