if you use FB paper you can wax/oil them, hence increasing their
transparency.

And you can put the 4" x 5" paper negs in a 4" x 5" enlarger and print right
thru them.
For the negative, it's best to use enlarging paper without printing on the
back and FB works fine if you like the texture. Of course, use your f stop
wide open to reduce the length of time for the exposure.
