I don't think I was very clear on where I stand vs. the Dreamagon lens
in my previous post. As a tool to produce a particular effect this lens
is a very good thing. (It should be mentioned that the lens can do
something that a zone plate cannot: The amount of diffusion / color
abberation can be varied. For this reason alone it could be a very
valuable lens to have, IF you need to produce specific effects in
specific photos.) From the standpoint of a commercial photographer,
this is not a gimmick, just another tool. From the standpoint of us
amateurs, it's an expensive ($250 US) gimmick that gives results
we can achieve with more work at very little cost.

It all comes down to how badly one needs the speed and releability.
