You have struck at the very heart of the pihole experience, which is "don't
worry about, just try something". Any way you can fugure out to adhere the
polaroid back to the box will work. Also, the exact size of the pinhole
really isn't important. Punch a needle through a disposable pie tin. The
only real rule is you gotta make it light tight.
