John Saxton was attributed with this quote: A slide will make a good photograph look bad and a bad photograph look good.
The answer comes from the good photographer who can make the best picture.
The requirement is to make it easy for judges to adjudicate lots of material. The assignment, then, for a photographer to best represent their work is to do photography to best present the work.
Sorry to be unsympathetic. I'm one of a small group who simply refuses to send slides. If the stakes aren't important enough to accomodate the actual photograph, they're not important enough for my submission; but I earned that right by successfully fulfilling the above mentioned assignment when submitting slides.

Subject: [pinhole-discussion] 35 mm slides
I want to enter a photo contest in which they want a 35mm slide. How do you go about doing this? Does the slide have to be top quality or do you just shoot it with your 35mm camera?
Larry
