I have used pinhole cut from aluminium plates (much thicker than 34
gauge, I suppose) and found that when shooting into the sun, the inner
side of the pinhole hole would send out reflections onto the film (much
the same as if you shoot with a standard camera into the sun, but a
completely different kind of pattern).
I find that brass shim has pretty well taken care of these reflections.
I wonder if silver, because it is very shinny, would not give you the
same kind of difficulties. I should say that sometimes, the reflections
would cast a beautiful pattern onto the print, but this is rather
unpredictable.
