I'm a relative newcomer to pinhole photography having built a camera out of a
popcorn tin and an aluminum pie plate pinhole within the last year. I've been very
excited by the results I've gotten (the fact that I can actually fix an image on
paper using such a primitive device is still cause for amazement) using black and
white RC paper negatives. In fact, I prefer the negatives as original works of art
over the positives I've contact printed. (The gray tones are real creamy and
there's a dream-like, slightly surreal quality to the negative images.) My
question to the group is where do I go from here? There are some inherent problems
using a curved camera (e.g. lines bend and want to converge) and I can't make
enlargements from the negatives. So I was wondering if some of the more
experienced pinholers might have a few suggestions based on their own evolvution
as pinhole photographers. For example, what other types of objects do you suggest
I use as a pinhole camera or other papers or film stocks (sheet film?) to use. I'm
also interested in moving into color work but don't have a color darkroom...
Any thoughts/suggestions you have will be appreciated.
