I personally don't have any problems with doing this, as I have a cable
connection. I would think that many others with slower connections would have
to wait considerably longer.
I would suggest that there be some size guidelines established - perhaps no
pictures larger than 20k or so. That should be plenty large enough if people
use a program like GifBot (http://www.netmechanic.com/accelerate.htm) before
sending. ALL images on my site (as well as the site I administer at work) are
optimized for quicker downloading.
Also, adding something like "(Picture)" in the subject would help to alert
folks with slower connections that they will be dealing with an image.
