Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Some pigments will filter and others
will not and all they do is clog up the filter, even when I use a course
filter like a piece of white tee-shirt. For a small amount you can
squeeze it out of the shirt. Oh messy!

I find it is not necessary unless the pigment agglomerated. Dip a white
cooking spatula into the mix and look at it. If agglomerated you will
see black specks, otherwise a nice grayscale tone will be seen as it
runs off. I make about 2.5 gallons at a time. I am setting up to do
about 10 gallon runs of pigment. I am starting to see production
problems ahead. Hmmm.
