Hello Dick!
I delayed in answering because I was hoping Eric Theise who has done an
incredible amount of work to maintain the carbon list (protecting it from
spam and all that), would make a comment...we owe him a lot for all the
great work and effort he has put out. And of course, Allen before that!
I have only been photographing since 1977, but the name Art Kramer does seem
a little familiar...perhaps from some old photo mags floating around the
university darkroom. My only experience in moderating was in relationship
to a parenting board. Unfortunately, that experience went down in flames.
As I was trying to maintain calm when a cross-forum flame war broke out --
turned out my co-moderator was a troll in discuise and for some reason
delighted in creating drama. It was not a delightful experience.
Fortunately, everybody on the carbon list is passionate about his/her
photography and sharing knowledge, and it has been a great resource for all.
Expanding it to include images and making it more like other forums might
bring in more people interested in carbon. I am in a group show (painters
and photographers) and at the opening last week I spent a good amount of
time desribing the carbon process.
Ed, a photographer in the LA area, is at the early stages of experimenting
with Woodbury...using photopolymers that
cure in UV light. I also told him about the Carbon list, as he is
interested it gelatins also. So we might hear from him eventually.
Welcome to the club, Mary! I will have to check out your images soon! I
taught myself carbon printing from a magazine article back in 1992 -- there
are a lot more resources and workshops now...a whole different scene now
from having to learn it in a bit of a knowledge-vacuum!
Vaughn
