Hi Sandy,
Do you remember the paper we used in the Istanbul workshop? It was Masa
paper (a Japanese paper). The front surface is like a Japanese drawing
paper, the back is like Vellum. Wet strength is excellent. (I forgot the
paper in water for more than 24 hours and it was still strong when I
checked it later!)

I don't know if that's cheap by your terms but to me its price is very
good: it's $0.59 per 21x31" sheet! (That's until 12/31/2006. And let me
remind that you can use this paper for making "siderotypes" too...)
Regards,
Loris.

Subject: [carbon] Paper for Tissue Support
...
Question is, does anyone know of a light and relatively inexpensive
paper with good wet strength that might work as the carbon support? I
really need good wet strength because for reasons of efficiency I
make my tissue in very large sheets, up to 24X36", and then cut it
down for use. The weight of a tissue with a wet height coating of 1
mm puts a lot of pressure on the paper when you pick it up to place
on a drying rack. One paper that does work nicely is the Strathmore
500 plate surface, but it a bit pricey.
