Having no pigment would have allowed the UV to penetrate far into the
gelatin. I knew there was something melted and somewhere there was high
pressure involved. That high pressure must have kept the process out of the
hands of the casual photographer! I can just see the instructions..."After
making the high relief gelatin image, lay it on a lead plate. Lift up the
corner of a medium sized stone building, and place gelatin and lead plate
under it."
