Good luck up in Yosemite!

I managed to get most of a day and one morning to photograph...not bad for
being there for a family gathering. I spent my time by a creek up in
Wawona. The 11x14 was borrowed, and the guy who I borrowed it from wanted
it back (Imagine that!), so I just had the 8x10. It was nice staying out
of the Valley for a change.

I was photographing with the 11x14 in the Valley about 4 years ago -- while
I had my head under the darkcloth, my 3 boys climbed about 25 feet up on
these huge rocks. Hard to concentrate on what you're doing when you got
three 4 year-olds up on the rocks. Fortunately, my wife was at home
hundreds of miles away...and the boys got down safely, and I got my shot.
That same trip, the boys wandered into the Merced River over the top of
their rubber boots while I had my head under the darkcloth. I did not get
that shot.

I am developing some of the latest Yosemite negs tonight -- since I usually
take a couple of negs from each set-up of the camera, I am processing one
for platinum/palladium and then give the other neg a bit more development
for possible carbon printing. I think I have some negatives to work with.

Have fun with the tiny camera! Except for the fact it would take time away
from using the 8x10, it would be fun to work with the 4x5 again. I
occasionally throw my Rolleiflex (color neg) in my 8x10 pack. On top of
everything else, it really does not add that much weight.

Vaughn

PS...Ya gotta love carbon printing...it keeps you on your toes and honest.
