Clay et. al. Chromates/dichromates are reduced from Cr +6 down to Cr
+3 by aqueous bisulfite solutions. The same chemistry as the final
clearing bath. Could be bisulfite or sulfite that has been acidified
by adding acetic acid. The sulfite in old developer will do the same
(slower since it is basic) as will the residual thiosulfate in old fixer.
