Hi Christian and all,
Yes, I made quite a number of carbon prints in 2003 with inkjet
negatives made with the Epson 2000p printer. They did not show any
lines at all, even when placed on fairly smooth surfaces. I have
since replaced the Epson 2000p with an Epson 2200 and have made quite
a number of kallitype and palladium prints with digital negatives
from this printer, with very nice results. However, because of the
time pressures of a writing project I have not done any carbon
printing since early spring of this year, and none at all since I
bought the 2200. Plan to start back printing carbon in early February.
My intuitive feeling at this point is that I can still get better
overall quality in carbon printing on smooth papers with in-camera
originals than with the best digital negatives. That was certainly
true with the 2000p and the 2200 does not give a very big
improvement in quality. With kallitype and palladium prints on art
paper I find that the digital negatives give results equal to
in-camera negatives.
