Several members of this list have indicated their interest in
obtaining a copy of my manual on carbon printing. I wanted to let you
know that at this time I have completed a few revisions that were
needed and I will be running a few more copies of the manual this
week. All going well I should be able to mail out copies by early next
week to those of you who have already contacted me about this.
Meanwhile, the following information is for Witho Worms who asked me
to read a stained negative of a step tablet on Bergger 200 film. The
information is provided as follows: 1) Silver density only, and 2)
Silver plus stain density.
Step Tablet Number Silver Density Silver Plus Stain
1. 1.59 1.92
2. 1.54 1.86
3. 1.46 1.77
4. 1.38 1.68
5. 1.29 1.57
6. 1.19 1.45
7. 1.08 1.32
8. .98 1.20
9. .87 1.08
10. .77 .96
11. .65 .82
12. .55 .69
13. .47 .57
14. .37 .47
15. .31 .40
16. .24 .32
17. .19 .26
18. .14 .19
19. .12 .16
For what it is worth, this particular negative has an approximate
density range of 1.6 if we assume a subject luminance range of
normal, or seven stops, and would be about perfect for printing in
carbon.
